Modern Foreign Languages

The teaching of MFL aims to develop a love for languages and a desire among pupils to communicate with other nationalities. Pupils become aware of the value and importance of languages in today’s world.

French is taught from the Pre-Reception Year and in Year 3 Spanish is also introduced. A lively, interactive approach ensures a motivating and challenging learning experience.

Throughout the school, pupils are taught by subject specialists in both languages.

Enjoyment and confidence are the building blocks, but gradually more importance is given to meeting the written element, so the pupils are ready to move on to secondary level at the end of Year 6.
