St Andrew's School

School Life

Beginning at Pre-School guiding each child until Year 6 and beyond.

At St. Andrew’s, the Nursery and Pre-Reception classes are the first stages in a child’s educational journey and we are committed to providing the best possible start.

In line with the Early Learning Goals, we nurture, inspire and challenge our pupils to become inquisitive thinkers with a real thirst for knowledge.

The Infant Classes follow on seamlessly from the Pre-School. Our small classes, each with their own teacher and teaching assistant, ensure that your child is appropriately challenged and inspired. Through a creative and innovative curriculum the children in Reception to Year 2 are taken on learning journeys, each one filled with a variety of opportunities to investigate, question, discover and enjoy.

In the Junior Classes, pupils benefit from a form tutor who sees them every day and usually teaches them for one subject. Specialist teachers deliver most of the curriculum. Our form tutors guide our pupils on their journey through the Junior School, getting to know them and helping them to realise their individual potential.

Our pupils leave the school at the end of Year 6 when the vast majority of them sit 11+ examinations for entry into Medway and Kent Grammar Schools.

Our aspiration as educators is to enable every child to flourish, whatever their destination. We continue to remain in touch with children and their families, particularly those with younger siblings still at St. Andrew’s and past pupils will often return to volunteer in our clubs and activities.
