On Wednesday 15th June, pupils from Year 6 took part in the Badminton Night of Champions at Medway Park. Having finished 3rd in the Badminton MYG, we had drawn Hempsted as they finished 6th. The boys’ doubles team gave us an excellent start, winning their game 15 – 11. The girls were narrowly beaten 15 – 13 to set up a deciding mixed doubles game. The St Andrew’s mixed doubles team successfully won their match 15 – 12 to put us through to the semi-finals!

The semi-final was against Elaine. The girls doubles team made a fantastic comeback having been 8 – 1 down to bring the score back to within two points, but just fell short to lose 15 – 13. The boys doubles team won their game by the same score to once again set up a deciding mixed doubles game. The Elaine mixed team were extremely strong, and despite a good performance from St Andrews the Elaine team won 15 – 11.

This put us in to the 3rd/4th place playoff against Walderslade. Despite all of the St Andrew’s players putting in a spirited performance, we lost the tie 3 – 0 to put us in 4th position overall.

This was a fantastic performance by the team and they should all be proud of their 4th place finish.
