On Thursday 22nd September, teams from Years 5 and 6 took part in Tag Rugby fixtures with Swingate in preparation for the upcoming Mini Youth Games event.
The Year 5’s started well, playing some excellent attacking rugby whilst continually turning the ball over close to their own defensive line to stop Swingate from scoring many tries. The score at half time was 3-1 to St Andrew’s, with the full time score coming in at 7-3 to St Andrew’s.
The Year 6’s took part in a very tough game, with both teams battling hard for possession of the ball. At half time, Swingate were leading 4-3. During the half time team talk, the St Andrew’s team discussed their performance and came out in the second half determined to play attacking rugby. In a very exciting half of rugby, the score finished 8-8 with Swingate scoring their equalising try with 20 seconds remaining.
Both teams played some excellent rugby and should be pleased with how well they represented St Andrew’s.
