On Thursday 29th and Friday 30th September, Year 6 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Maidstone Grammar School for Girls to visit an air raid shelter.
On arrival, the pupils were told all about the history of the school and learnt about what life was like there during the war.
Next, they had the chance to go inside the air raid shelter. They learnt that pupils used to use the shelter in WW2 and would continue their lessons in there if sirens sounded.
The Year 6 pupils then completed an art activity to see just what life would have been like to study in the conditions of the shelter.
Finally, the pupils investigated the shelter further and even found chalk mark remains from lessons from the war!
An excellent morning was had by all!
