Science

St Andrew's School

Science

Science covers the three disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics with a great emphasis being placed on practical investigations and experiments throughout these key areas.

Creative, practical lessons with investigative work are at the core of our teaching to inspire pupils to develop their sense of curiosity and understanding of the scientific world.

The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers; he's one who asks the right questions.

Claude Lévi-Strauss

We help the children to understand the world around them, whilst kindling and encouraging in them a real appreciation for Science in all its diverse and fascinating forms.

Science encompasses the acquisition of knowledge, concepts, skills and positive attitudes. Pupils learn to ask scientific questions and begin to appreciate the way in which science will affect the future on a personal, national, and global level.

Pupils have the opportunity to go on various trips including the Observatory Science Centre in Herstmonceux. The School also runs science events and has enjoyed visits from Zoolab and the Science Boffins.
